THE CHOIR OF WARSAW ARCHCATHEDRAL was founded in 1983 under the patronage of the Primate of Poland Cardinal Józef Glemp. Currently the choir is subordinate to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw Kazimierz Nycz.
The founder and the first conductor of the choir (1983-2004) was Father Prof. Andrzej Filaber. Since 2004 the position of the choir conductor has been held by Dariusz Zimnicki, D.A.

The choir has the main task of providing important cathedral and diocesan celebrations with musical setting.
The choir carries out an intense concert activity. It has performed not only in many Polish towns but also in 20 European countries as well as in the USA and Canada. The choir has participated in various countrywide contests as well as in international festivals.
The choir has many prizes on its credit: the Ministry of Culture and Art Award for lifetime achievement (1993, 1998), the Diploma of the Polish Association of Choirs and Orchestras (1993) and the Medal of the Primate of Poland "Distinguished service for the Church and Nation" ("Zasłużonemu dla Kościoła i Narodu"). In October 2009 it was awarded the Ceacilianum Federation Medal Gloriam Dei Cantare for its career achievements. It also received the 2nd prize at the 9th National Competition of Choirs Ceacilianum 2009 in Warsaw.
The choir performs works of European composers, however it promotes mostly the Polish religious music. Its repertoire contains compositions of all periods. The choir frequently reaches for the forgotten or rarely performed compositions.
The choir's phonography consists of nine recordings with religious music. The choir was awarded the Double Platinum Record for the album of Polish Christmas Carols.
